Vehicles in German City Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police stated they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say initial examinations show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for details.

A senior official commented the incident made him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
