Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for questions to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, marking the team's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received significant backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win naturally but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period of this nature with performances this poor.”

He concluded, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
