Iran Claims Strike on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
